About us

What difference can a box make?

As it turns out, quite a lot. The idea for renting reusable moving boxes is not new. There are companies that do it all over the world, however the idea is really taking off in environmentally progressive markets such as Germany and other countries in the EU.

Jeff and Angela brought Rhinoboxes to Simcoe County to offer an alternative to crushed cardboard, hard-to-carry boxes and more environmental waste. Users of reusable plastic moving boxes report having faster moves with less stress and time than using traditional cardboard boxes. Quick packing, high stacking boxes can cube out a moving truck and get your move finished faster and easier. We absolutely loved Jeff and Angela's approach and philosophy. We hope to continue with and build on their vision, and expand their model to the rest of Southern Ontario.

So, while the convenience factor is huge, what really gets us motivated is the environmental impact of cardboard. With the explosion in shipping for commerce purposes, cardboard is everywhere these days.

Production of one ton of cardboard requires:

  1. 17 trees
  2. 79 gallons of oil
  3. 7000 gallons of water
  4. 42,000 kilowatts of energy.

Cardboard is biodegradable, meaning that it decomposes organically. During this decomposition process, harmful gases may be emitted. 750 kg of CO2 is produced when 1 ton of paper is incinerated. The lifecycle of a moving box is significant. Trees are cut into logs, which become wood chips. Those wood chips are pulped and mixed with recycled materials. The pulp is dried, rolled into paper and then glued together to create corrugated cardboard. They are then inked, packaged and shipped before getting recycled or thrown away.

By comparison, a reusable moving box can be used 400 times before being recycled into other products. We love the fact that we can offer an alternative that can free your move from the same old routine of assembling boxes before packing.

So, forget about buying tape.

Don't worry about sourcing cardboard. Our boxes come to you preassembled and ready to go.

Save time, save the planet.

Move better.

Meet najin!

HelpingRhinos.org, supports extremely rare Northern White Rhinos, like Najin! This organization maintains a safe and natural environment for one of the rarest mammals in the world. In fact, with only 2 Northern White Rhinos surviving in the world today, it is the most endangered mammal on the planet.

Quick Facts about Najin:

-Born in 1989 at Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic

-Gender: Female

-Family: Najin is the mother of Fatu, the only other remaining white rhino

-Location: 700 Acre endangered species boma (enclosure) in Kenya, East Africa.

It was hoped that Najin would mate successfully once on African soil but all attempts have been unsuccessful and science is now viewed as the best hope to maintain the Northern White Rhino gene pool. She has settled in well to her new home in Africa.
